ON DUBLIN STREET by SAMANTHA YOUNG.
Characters: Jocelyn/Joss Butler, Braden Carmichael, Ellie Carmichael
Everytime I search for my next book to read in Goodreads, I always end up seeing this picture of a girl with her long neck. In thumbnail view, I thought the one behind her was some kind of a monster, since the guy's photo was a little darker and the title won't give anything away with it's plot. I thought it's a young adult book with monsters or vampire (thanks to the neck of the girl).
So here's how the story goes,
The girl with the gorgeous neck, Joss had a pretty messed up past, parents dead, sister dead, best friend dead. So, she thinks, she has a very bad luck (yah think?).
She then moves to Scotland, yes I know that Dublin is in Ireland, but Dublin Street is on Scotland (crazy making the readers confused), she built her life back, gained a best friend who doesn't know anything about her, and who she doesn't really know also (way to go, calling her your best friend).
So when her best friend moves out of their flat, and moves to London with her boyfriend, Joss was in the hunt of a new roommate and a new place to live. And on her way to her new flat, she shares a freaky cab ride with Mr Hottie and fast forward, she found that Mr Hottie was her roommate's brother, who also happened to be the owner of the place she now lives in.
Okay, I am NOT writing a book summary of this, so...
Mr Hottie's name is Braden, Joss likes Braden but she doesn't want anyone in her life because she thinks she's a bad luck and she'll eventually be the one hurting in the end if something bad happens to him,or if something bad happens to his sister who Joss' is getting a fond of.
But the attraction is still there, so Braden finds a way of being close to Joss (or Jocelyn according to Braden), he makes a proposition ( I know, the prososition-in-books are getting damn old, e.g. The Proposition, Fifty Shades Trilogy), but Braden and Joss end up falling in the end. But Joss still has her inhibitions, so the big question is, will Joss follows her heart or will she be able to walk away to save herself from all the heartache and break all of the people around her in the process.
I am a little bored, the plot is predictable, the sexual stuff are OKAY I guess but a little repetitive, Joss is frustrating, Braden is hot. The drama on the end brought tears in my eyes, the way they hurt each other with their words is just phenomenal.
Three out of Five.
