LOLA AND THE BOY NEXT DOOR BOOK REVIEW

I've made the mistake of not doing background investigation about this book and about the author and about the author's other books before reading Lola and the Boy Next Door by  Stephanie Perkins.

What I've learned is that I should have read Perkin's previous book, Anna and the French Kiss, but WHATEVER!

I have finished reading and I loved it!

This book is very much similar to Adorkable.

1. Both Lola and Jeane are
weird and loving it.
2. Lola loves dressing up and wear costumes everyday, just like Jeane who loves being a dork.
3. Cricket, the boy next door (obviously). Michael Lee, the boy-next-door type, straight A student and hot as hell.
4. the girls both hates the boys but for different circumstances.
5. They became best friends (sort of).

Lola is not your average girl next door, she dresses in costumes, swears not to wear the same costume twice, have gay dads, and have the rocker boyfriend who is years older than her. She hopes not to see the twins next door ever again, her once idolized Calliope and his twin brother Cricket who broke her heart summers ago before the Bells moved away. But to Lola's luck, when she thinks everything is going to order, her heart healed and all that, the Bells moved back, and Cricket acted like nothing terrible happened in the past and he begins treating Lola as the bestfriend they once were. What would Lola do is the question of the century when Cricket confesses her feelings to Lola.

This book got me very kilig (Cricket Bell), angry (at Max), confused (for Lola's feelings) all at the same time. First love always give you that forever feeling where how many times you tried to forget you'll always ended up remembering everything about that boy. Sooo kilig. I think boys that a little geeky are so cute, and Cricket knows all the right things to say while douche Max never wanted to know Lola's world in the first place.

“So do you believe in second chances?" I bite my lip.
"Second, third, fourth. Whatever it takes. However long it takes. If the person is right," he adds.
"If the person is... Lola?"
This time, he holds my gaze. "Only if the other person is Cricket.”

This line got me reading for the nth time :))

It was so funny to find out what Cricket secret talent, we'll that made it easier to see that he and Lola are reallt meant for each other. And I think boys that a little geeky are so cute.

4 out of 5.
